Globally there are over hundred million children between the ages of 0-6 years, who do not get access to quality early childhood education. Over 50% of these children can be found in Africa alone, living in urban-slums. Research also indicates that there is a strong positive linear relationship between socioeconomic poverty and the lack of early childhood education.

Sean Ofori-Addo, Eugene Parker, Hannah Lormenyo and Janet Fuah are the faces behind team Abofra who applied for this year's African Impact Challenge to tackle this problem. All from Ashesi University, they are building a solution which will provide low-income parents in Ghana with an affordable means of giving their children quality early childhood education. The solution will be able to deliver content in the parent's voice, with a focus on improving psychomotor, socio-emotional and cognitive skills.

Did you know that Ghana presently produces 1.7 Million tons of plastic waste per annum? With a waste recycling rate way lower than 10%? A lot of this is in the form of bottles and sachets sold for drinking water. Additionally, producers of bottled and sachet water shift their costs of production to consumers, making drinking water way more expensive than it should actually be.

Ayebilla Avoka, Kwabena Twumasi Ankrah, Mumuni Mohammed and Hannah Ama Dorkenu are the faces behind Ruwa On The Go who applied to the African Impact Challenge with their idea to tackle these problems. All final year classmates at Ashesi University, they are building a digital solution that provides a more affordable and environmentally friendly alternative to drinking water on the go for Ghanaians.
